Jane’s Story
Jane Kristen Marczewski, known to the world as Nightbirde, became an inspiration to millions through her music, writing, and unwavering hope.
Many first encountered Jane during her appearance on America’s Got Talent in 2021, when her original song and honest story moved audiences across the world. Her performance earned Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer and introduced millions of viewers to a woman who was facing terminal cancer with extraordinary courage.
But what people remember most about Jane was not just her voice. It was her perspective.
In the middle of immense suffering, she shared a message that resonated with people everywhere:
“You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore before you decide to be happy.”
Jane’s words reminded people that they are more than the hardships they face. Her honesty, wisdom, and faith encouraged countless individuals who were walking through their own difficult journeys.
Beyond the stage, Jane was a prolific writer and songwriter who used her creativity to process life, suffering, hope, and faith. Through her music and writing, she continued to offer encouragement to people around the world.
A Legacy of Generosity
In the final season of her life, Jane demonstrated the very hope she spoke about.
During her cancer journey, thousands of people around the world generously gave to help her afford the treatments that extended her life. That kindness deeply impacted her.
One of the last things Jane did before she passed away was redirect a portion of those donated funds to help another woman.
A woman who had just been diagnosed with cancer.
A woman named Elaine.
Elaine had run out of money for the treatments she needed. When Jane learned about her situation, she chose to give part of the money that had been donated for her own care so that Elaine could continue treatment.
It was a quiet act of generosity, but it carried profound meaning.
Before there was a nonprofit.
Before there were Gifts of Hope.
There was simply Jane living out the message she believed in:
Hope is meant to be shared.
That moment became the catalyst for what would later become the Nightbirde Foundation.
Carrying Hope Forward
The Nightbirde Foundation was established in 2022 in honor of Jane “Nightbirde” Marczewski and the message of hope she shared with the world.
During Jane’s cancer journey, the generosity of thousands of people changed the course of her story. Support from people across the country and around the globe helped provide the treatments that extended her life.
That experience revealed something powerful: when people come together in generosity, they can change someone’s story.
The Nightbirde Foundation exists to do exactly that.
Today, the foundation supports women facing cancer by providing both encouragement and practical help during one of the most difficult seasons of life.
A Mission Made Possible
The Nightbirde Foundation is a donor-supported 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to serving women facing cancer.
Just as Jane’s own journey was supported by the generosity of thousands of people, the foundation now extends that same generosity to others walking through similar battles.
Through partnerships with medical providers, integrative clinics, and supporters across the country, the Nightbirde Foundation is able to deliver meaningful support to women when they need it most.
