Soma’s Story
Soma was just days away from starting chemotherapy when a package arrived at her door.
She had recently learned about the Nightbirde Foundation and the Gifts of Hope they send to people facing cancer. Curious and hopeful, she decided to request one for herself, not knowing just how meaningful it would be.
At the time, everything was about to change.
With treatment beginning in only two days, Soma was stepping into the unknown, preparing for the physical and emotional challenges that come with chemotherapy. Like many women in that moment, she knew she would need as much encouragement as she could get.
When she opened the box, it was more than she expected.
Inside were simple but deeply thoughtful items. A handwritten note filled with prayer and support. Jane’s music and poetry. A beanie she knew she would soon need. A cup with a message that stopped her in her tracks:
“Don’t you want to see what happens if you don’t give up?”
In a moment filled with uncertainty, that message stayed with her.
What could have been just another day preparing for treatment became something different. A reminder that someone cared. That people she had never met were thinking of her, praying for her, and believing in her strength.
For Soma, the Gift of Hope didn’t change her diagnosis. But it changed how she stepped into it.
Instead of walking into chemotherapy feeling alone, she carried with her encouragement, comfort, and a renewed sense of hope for what was ahead.
“I start chemo in two days… I’m going to need all the encouragement I can get.”
Be Part of the Next Story
Hope moves from one woman to another.
Every woman you meet here has a different story.
Different circumstances. Different fears. Different moments where hope felt far away.
But what they share is this:
Someone stepped in.
Through the Nightbirde Foundation, women facing breast cancer receive encouragement, community, and support for treatments that insurance often will not cover.
Because when one woman is lifted up, the impact reaches far beyond her.
It touches her family.
Her children.
Her community.
And it reminds every woman walking this road that she is not alone.
You can help carry that hope forward.
